Columbus Grove, Ohio Edna Mae McCrate, 88, died at 10:45 p.m., on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at her home in Columbus Grove, Ohio. She was born on February 6, 1927, in Columbus Grove, to Lewis and Ludvina (Moening) Schroeder. They both preceded her in death. On October 9, 1948, she married Carl L. McCrate, who died on November 8, 2010. Edna Mae was survived by three sons: Tim (Susan) McCrate of Escanaba, Michigan, Kelley (Cheryl) McCrate of Columbus Grove, and Chris (Cathy) McCrate of Lake Lure, North Carolina; one granddaughter: Abby McCrate (Jared Woodland) of South Pasadena, California; two step-granddaughters: Natalie (Ryan) Spengler of Bryan, and Nannette (Josh) Cropsey of Indianapolis, Indiana; one great-grandson: Tomory Woodland; six step-great-grandchildren: twins, Keziah and Jackson, and Selah Cropsey; Noah, Jillian and Gwen Spengler; and one sister: Velma (George) Pope of Ottawa. She was preceded in death by one brother: Clarence (Margaret) Schroeder; and two sisters: Irene (Roy) Westrick and Betty (Wilbur) White. Mrs. McCrate was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, Class of 1945. Edna Mae worked alongside her husband, Carl, in Carl's Full Service Hardware, Columbus Grove, from 1953 until her retirement in 1992. She was a member of St. Anthony Church, Columbus Grove and the Altar Rosary Society, of the Church. Her special interests include her love of knitting, reading, playing bridge and cribbage. She was a member of the Bower-Slusser American Legion Auxiliary, Columbus Grove. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 a.m., on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at St. Anthony Church, Columbus Grove, with Rev. Charles Obinwa and Rev. Tom Extejt as co-celebrants. Burial to follow in St. Anthony Cemetery, Columbus Grove. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Friday, January 29, 2016, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, where a Rosary Service will take place at the end of visitation.
