Dortha Reed Obituary
Columbus Grove, Ohio Dortha L. Reed, age 84, died at 2:56 pm, on January 8, 2017, at Lima Memorial Hospital. She was born on January 7, 1933, in Findlay, Ohio, to Leo and Alta Mae (Streeter) Epley. They both preceded her in death. On August 20, 1952, she married Thomas O. Reed. He survives in Columbus Grove. Dortha is survived by three sons: Alan Reed of Defiance, Steve (Rhonda) Reed and Tommy Reed both of Columbus Grove; three daughters: Diane (Gary) Benroth, Cheri (Carl) Benroth and Barb (Chris) Maag all of Columbus Grove; 16 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one brother: Richard Lee Epley of Cleveland; two brothers in-law: Jack Reed of Columbus Grove and Duane (Lena) Reed of Shawnee, and two sisters in-law: Betty Graham of Lima and Marilyn (Carl) Quinn of Cincinnati. She was preceded in death by one brother: Bobby Epley; two sisters: Leona Sue Mandich and Louise (George) Brindza, and brother in-law: Robert Graham. Dortha was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School. She was a homemaker, had worked for Ohio Power and Konalrad Products formerly of Columbus Grove. Dortha also assisted with in-home elderly-care and had babysat for many. She attended the Columbus Grove Christian Church. She was a Cleveland Indians fan, and enjoyed playing the piano and organ, and singing with her grandchildren. She was very spiritual, with a deep love for Jesus and a heart to share her knowledge of him with others. Her family was her "favorite". Dortha loved spending time with her husband, children, grandchildren and family members. Services will begin at 11:00 am, on Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastors Geoff Eubank and Dave Thompson will co officiate, with burial to follow in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove. Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday and from 10:00-11:00 am on Thursday prior to the service at Hartman Sons Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbus Grove Christian Church. Online condolences may be expressed at hartmansonsfuneralhome.com.
