Don Brenneman Obituary
Don L. Brenneman, 81, died at 2:36 a.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio. He was born August 5, 1932, near Elida, Ohio to Joseph E. and Erma L. (Lamb) Brenneman, who preceded him in death. He was married to Janice L. McDonald, who also preceded him in death. Mr. Brenneman started school in Gomer and graduated from Lafayette High School. He was a U. S. Army veteran, serving in Alaska, during the Korean Conflict. Prior to the service, he had worked with Churchill construction during, and immediately following high school. Next he was employed with Ford Motor Company, Lima and returned shortly to work at Churchill Construction, now Shelly Corporation, until his retirement. He was a life long farmer. He was a member of the Cairo United Methodist Church, American Legion, Post 96, Lima, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Arie 370 of Lima and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge of Lima. Don enjoyed woodworking, gardening (Dahlias and Tomatoes), building bird houses, hunting and searching his farm fields for arrowheads. Survivors include two sons, Eric (Susan) Brenneman and Timothy (Kim) Brenneman, both of Lima; one brother, Jim (Rose) Brenneman of Lima; one sister Judy (Don) Hollingsworth of Lima; three grandchildren, Ashley Brenneman (fiancé' Chris Sisley) of Strongsville, Ohio, Chad (Jenilee) Brenneman and Joseph Brenneman both of Lima. He is also survived by his close friend and companion Christine Wood and his faithful dog "Taz." The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00pm on Wednesday and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, Ohio. Funeral service will be at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Rich Rakay will officiate. Burial will be in Cairo Eastside Cemetery, Cairo, Ohio.
