Columbus Grove, Ohio Dolores Thornton, age 87, passed away at 3:40 p.m., on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio. She was born on May 27, 1929, in Sylvania, Ohio, to Clarence and Ortha (Bracy) Tschudy. They both preceded her in death. On January 18, 1947, she married Don Thornton, who also preceded her in death December 16, 2011, just before celebrating their sixty-fifth anniversary. Mrs. Thornton was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her life reflected her loving and nurturing nature and her strong faith in God. Her sweet personality was known to all she encountered, especially her family and friends. Dolores was a homemaker and a Sunday School Teacher at the Methodist Church in Columbus Grove, Ohio. Her true passion was caring for the babies and children of her family. She enjoyed playing Bridge with her friends for fifty-four years and cherished spending time with her neighbors of sixty years. She also attended Lima Community Church of the Nazarene. Survivors include one sister: Ortha Lehman of Alta Loma, California; two sons: Don (Susan) Thornton of Columbus, Ohio and David (Sheila) Thornton of Columbus Grove, Ohio; a daughter: Laura (Don) Clevenger of Lima, Ohio; eight grandchildren: Elisa (Mark) Schroeder, Stacy (Steve) Butcher, D.J. (Amy) Clevenger, Melissa (Jeremy) Masters, Emily (Andy) Busch, Michael (Natalia) Thornton, Jessica Baker, and Justin (Alicia) Thornton; and fourteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother: Evan Tschudy; two sisters: Margaret (Les) Clymer and Phoebe (Richard) Armstrong; and a great-grandson Kenney Redd Thornton. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2016 at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, with Reverend James Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove. Friends may call on Friday, July 1, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove.
