Ft. Jennings, Ohio Delores M. Askins,83, died at 6:40 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at Meadows of Kalida, Kalida, Ohio. She was born on March 15, 1931, in Cloverdale, Ohio to Jerome and Teresa (Erhart) Miller. They both preceded her in death. On December 7, 1949 she married Vernon D. Askins, and he survives in Ft. Jennings. Mrs. Askins was the oldest of thirteen children. She was a graduate and Salutatorian of Vaughnsville High School, class of 1949. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. She loved playing cards with her friends, working word puzzles and baking cookies. Delores was a "chronic window washer" (according to her family). She had worked for 34 years with Dr. Richard Needler of Columbus Grove, as his office manager. She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove and the Altar Rosary Society. Survivors include three sons: Richard (Vicki) Askins, Lima, Randy (Sharon) Askins and Rodney Askins, both of Kalida; eight grandchildren: Kelly, Eric, Emily, Ross, Ryan, Sarah, Matt and Amy; 20 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She is also survived by three brothers: Kenneth (Carol) Miller, Cridersville, Carl (Nancy) Miller, Harrisburg, NC and Tony (Vicki) Miller, Findlay; six sisters: Angie (Richard) Schroeder, Kalida, Joan Waltman, Delphos, Marjorie (Paul) Stechschulte, Kalida, Sharon Griffith, Janet (James) Cox and Anne (Robert) Craine all of Findlay; one sister in-law: Linda Miller, Findlay. She was preceded in death by an infant sister; two brothers: Paul (Rosie Halker) Miller, Robert Miller and one brother in-law: Richard Waltman. Services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2015, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Rev. Elmer Wurth will be officiating. Burial will follow in Ottawa River Cemetery, Rimer, Ohio. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove.
