Columbus Grove, Ohio Cletus Joseph Schroeder, age 62, died Sunday, April 24, 2016, at his home near Columbus Grove, Ohio. He was born on September 3, 1953, in Lima, Ohio, to Louis J. and Mary Ida (Balbaugh) Schroeder. His mother survives in Columbus Grove and his father preceded him in death. On February 14, 1976, he married Barbara Halker, she survives in Columbus Grove. They had recently celebrated 40 years of marriage. Survivors include one son: Louis (Julie) Schroeder of Columbus Grove, two daughters: Amy (Chuck) Hughes of Columbus Grove and Janet (David Neuenschwander) Schroeder of Bluffton; five grandchildren: Daniel Hughes, Landen, Levi, Zaine and Wynn Schroeder; four brothers: Don (Gloria) Schroeder of Columbus Grove, Ron (Deb) Schroeder of Lima, Robert (Doris) Schroeder of Leipsic and Mark (Mary Ann) Schroeder of Kalida; and three sisters: Mary Ann Cox of Ottawa, Donna (Paul) Adkins of Columbus Grove and Louann (Terry) Patton of Ottawa. Mr. Schroeder had worked for Chamberlin Trucking of Leipsic; Phillips ECG formerly of Ottawa, Advanced Auto of Ottawa, he had assisted several area farmers in their work and was also a handy man. He was a strong willed guy who enjoyed yard work, gardening, farming, attending auctions, working puzzle books, but most of all, he enjoyed his grandchildren. Cletus was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, and was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, class of 1971. He had been a 4-H advisor of the Vaughnsville Chop and Sirloin 4-H Club for many years. Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove. Rev. Tom Extejt will officiate with burial to follow in St. Anthony Church Cemetery, Columbus Grove. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Tuesday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. A Family Rosary will be at the close of visitation on Tuesday evening. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor's choice. Online condolences may be expressed at hartmansonsfuneralhome.com
