Cairo, Ohio Charles "Ote" Rasor, age 89, died at 8:21 p.m., on Thursday May 19, 2016, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. He was born in Cairo, Ohio, on February 5, 1927, to Marion and Mabel (Wood) Rasor. They both preceded him in death. On August 30, 1947, he married Shirley Newland, she died on November 6, 2013. Mr. Rasor was a graduate of Lima Central High School, class of 1945. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during WWII. Ote was the owner/operator of Rasor's Excavating, Cairo; and he also worked for Monroe Township and was head of maintenance at Bath High School. He was member of the Cairo United Methodist Church, VFW Post 9648, Columbus Grove, Moose Lodge #199 and Fraternal Order of Eagles Arie #370 both of Lima. He is survived by one son: Mark (Melody) Rasor of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two daughters: Debra (Douglas) Stratton of Cairo and Janis (Robert) Mulcahy of Lima; seven grandchildren: Jeremiah (Stacy) Stratton, Shane (Lorie) Stratton, Kaila (Matt) Cook, Kaitlin Mulcahy, Casey Mulcahy, Aaron Rasor and Zachary Rasor; and five great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son: Fred Rasor; three sisters: Mary Ellen Rasor, Lillian (Robert) Lamb and Irene (Bud) Everett. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2016, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Ruth Ann Scoby will officiate, burial to follow in Cairo Eastside Cemetery with Military Rites by Columbus Grove VFW and American Legion Color Guard. Friends may call from 2:00-8:00pm on Monday and 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to Cairo Monroe Volunteer Fire Department and EMS or to the Cairo United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be expressed at hartmansonsfuneralhome.com.
