Columbus Grove, Ohio Charles W. "Bud" Jones, 86, died at 12:50pm on Friday, October 17, 2014, at The Meadows of Kalida, Kalida, Ohio He was born in Cairo, Ohio, November 26, 1927, to John Wesley and Nellie(Baxter) Jones, who preceded him in death. He had been married to Jean Davis Gilbert, then Dorothy A. Melson, both of whom preceded him in death. Mr. Jones was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, class of 1945, where he participated in all sports. After High School he played both baseball and softball for various area teams. Bud was an inspector at Westinghouse, Lima, retiring in 1988 after 32 years. He was a member of the VFW Post #9648 and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 2772, both of Columbus Grove; and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie # 370 and the B.P.O. Elks, Lodge #54, both of Lima. He was an avid Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Browns and O.S.U. Buckeyes fan. Survivors include one son: Victor (Carol) Jones, Ada; three daughters: Sue (Michael) Pryer-Bell, Sarasota, FL, Paula Jane (Ronald) Parsons, Ada, and Judith Tarr-Austin, Columbus Grove; ten grandchildren: Scott, Tim and Matt Pryer; Alan, Chris and Paula Simon; Jennifer Zebrowski, Jim Tarr, Bonnie Edgin and Brad Jones; and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters: Jean (LeRoy) Bell and Helen (Merlin "Butch") Sargent. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2014, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Rich Rakay will officiate. Burial will follow in Osborn Cemetery, Columbus Grove. Friends may call on Monday, October 20, 2014 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbus Grove Athletic Boosters, Columbus Grove VFW Men's Auxillary, or the Meadows of Kalida activities fund.
