Carol Renner Obituary
Columbus Grove, Ohio Carol J. Renner was called home by the Lord on December 16, 2014, after years of struggling with ill health. She came into the world on June 30, 1934, the eldest of three girls born to Beulah (Patton) and Lester Renner of Delphos Ohio. Carol grew up in the wake of the Great Depression and the challenge of World War II. Her mother was a Rosy the Riveter working in factories. Both her father and step father served in combat. Being the eldest, her duties at home were many, but Carol and her sisters, Marna and Glenna found an outlet in becoming formidable ball players. Soon after World War II, Carol and her family moved to Gomer, Ohio, where her two brothers David and Donald were born to Beulah and her husband Rex Crites. Carol graduated from Gomer High School in 1952. Carol married her high school sweetheart, Harry Dale Renner, on July 5, 1952. They raised six children and ran a family farm. Carol was a staunch supporter of Columbus Grove sports and music programs. She was a fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State football. In the early 1980's, she was member of the musical chorus, "The Tunedusters." Mrs. Renner retired from Phillips in 1996. During her tenure there, she was a Union Steward and was one of the first women on the Executive Board. After retirement, Carol enjoyed her family and friends, gardening, arts and crafts, and traveling abroad to several European countries, Japan and Hawaii. For several years Carol was a foster mother for homeless dogs and nurtured several dogs back to health, especially Ginger. Carol is survived by her six children, Kenneth (Dana) Renner, Lima; Vickie (Randy) Shoemaker, Pandora; Angela Carol (Anthony) Craig, Norfolk, VA; Lisa (Rick) Maag, Kaylene Renner and Christina (Mike Bonnell) Renner all of Columbus Grove; and "sixth daughter", Sheri. Surviving grandchildren include Toby (Missy) Renner, Trent (Andrea) Renner, Aimee (Brad) King, Stephanie (Ryan) Parsons, Danny (Deanna) Woods, Katelin (Abram) Escamilla, Miranda (Ryan) Morgan, Ben (Cory) Maag, Blake Maag, Blaine (Ariana) Maag, J. Christopher Daniel, Harrison Renner Daniel, Crayton Daniel, Anthony (Kobe) Craig and Brenna Carol Craig; great grandchildren include Ross, Autumn, Haley, Emma and Brenton Renner; Gunner and Race King; Nick Woods; Camryn, Kendall, Maddox, Alexis and Abram Escamilla; Lincoln Woods; Mya, Ella and Ava Morgan and Madisyn, Lawson and Carsyn Maag. She is also survived by her sister, Marna (her friend, Dan) Clevenger; her brother Donald (Sharon) Crites and two sisters-in-law, Norma (Renner) Martz and Marjorie (Renner) Bourne. Mrs. Renner was preceded in death by her husband, H. Dale Renner; her mother Beulah Crites and father Lester Renner; her stepfather, Rex F. Crites; one sister, Glenna Renner and one brother, David Crites. A heartfelt thanks from the family is extended to the supporting friends, neighbors, medical personnel at the Lima Memorial Hospital, Hilty Memorial Home and the Putnam County Home Health and Hospice Care, especially, Stacy. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. December 20, 2014, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Geoff Eubank will officiate , with burial in Pike Run Cemetery, Gomer, Ohio. Friends may call on Friday, December 19, 2014 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the services at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, Ohio.
