Columbus Grove, Ohio Betty Schumacher, 76, died at 5:30 a.m., on Friday, March 6, 2015, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima, Ohio. She was born on March 18, 1938 in Ottoville, Ohio, to William and Mary (Landwehr) Turnwald, who preceded her in death. On January 9, 1965, Betty married Karl Schumacher, who survives in Columbus Grove, Ohio. Mrs. Schumacher was a graduate of Ottoville High School. She was a member of St. Anthony Church, the Altar Rosary Society of the Church and was a member of the Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She worked at the Putnam County Court House, Engineers office with Mr. Richard Recker. She retired from the village offices of Columbus Grove. Betty was a 4-H advisor for many years of the Columbus Grove Spic and Span 4-H club. She loved to bake cookies for the grandchildren to take back to college. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing doll clothes for the granddaughters. Family was the joy of her life; going to children and grandchildren events at church and school. Betty looked forward to all family holiday events and special occasions. Survivors include one son: Randy (Roxanne) Schumacher, Columbus Grove; three daughters: Lori (Troy) Schroeder, Columbus Grove, Karen (Teddy McCoy) Gerding, Kalida and Karla (Ray) Boes, Pandora; 15 grandchildren: Rachel, Robyn, Riley, Reed, Tyler, Kyle, Katie, Linzi, Karissa, Tejay, Tyler, Jeff, Matt, Logan and Lucas; and one brother: John Turnwald, Ottoville. Betty was preceded in death by a grandson: Rob Gerding; her sister; Anna Marie Eickholt and three brothers: Sylvester, Leon and William, Jr. Turnwald. Service will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2015, at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Columbus Grove, with Father Tom Extejt officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery, Columbus Grove. Friends may call from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Sunday and 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove, where a Rosary Service will follow the end of visitation on Monday evening.
