Betty Buchanan Obituary
COLUMBUS GROVE — Betty C. Buchanan, 96, died at 8:25 p.m. Sept. 15, 2013, at Putnam Acres Care Center, Ottawa. She was born March 3, 1917, in Royal Oaks, Mich., to Carroll and Clara Leichtweis Holmes, who preceded her in death. On April 16, 1935, she married Oliver Buchanan, who died March 12, 1993. Mrs. Buchanan graduated from Columbus Grove. She retired from Safeco Insurance Co. Survivors include a son, Keith (Linda) Buchanan, of Porter Ranch, Calif.; a niece, Caroline (Jim) Doty, of Columbus Grove; a nephew, Bill (Darcey) Holmes, of Yuma, Ariz.; five cousins, Judy (Doyle “Bud”) DeVelbis, of Toledo, Tom Mayberry, Kay Schumacher and John Mayberry, all of Columbus Grove, and Patricia (Robert) Kolsky, of Toledo; three grandsons, Michael, Craig and Daryl; and five granddaughters and four great-grandsons. She was preceded in death by a brother, George W. Holmes, her twin; a sister, Lois Knowles; and a nephew, James C. Holmes. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Michael Buchanan will officiate. Burial will be in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove. Friends may call one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Condolences may be expressed at hartmansonsfuneralhome.com
