Columbus Grove, Ohio Betsy Bates, age 67, died at 7:11pm, on Friday, February 16, 2018, at Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. She was born on July 2, 1950, in Dayton, to Joseph Perry and Betty Marie (Swedberg) Warren . They both preceded her in death. On March 22, 1997, she married Richard Bates, whom survives in Columbus Grove. Betsy is survived by two daughters: Stephanie (Ryan) Ricker and Jessica (Nathan) Smith and four grandchildren: Logan Snyder, Wyatt Hoar, Mckayla and Morgan Ricker. She was preceded in death by one sister Bonnie Tomlinson. After high school, Betsy attended Defiance College, where she earned her degree in Nursing. She enjoyed working with the elderly, in a nursing home situation. Betsy enjoyed golf, time with her grandchildren, camping and gardening. Her favorite thing was her nursing care of the elderly. Services will begin at 11:00 am on Friday, February 23, 2018, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Michael J. Huffaker will officiate, burial to follow in Sugar Creek Church of the Brethren Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00pm, on Thursday. February 22. 2018 and one hour prior to the service on Friday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital, the LVAD Clinic, Columbus, Ohio or to the Unverferth House, located on the Hospital Campus. There will be a Celebration of Life gathering on Wednesday, February 28, 2018, from 4:00-6:00pm at the Faith Lutheran Church, 170 Mansfield Ave., Mt. Vernon, Ohio.
