Columbus Grove, Ohio Barry L. Seyer, age 70, died at 11:45 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at his home, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born on May 5, 1946 in Lima, Ohio, to Harold and Betty (Nungester) Seyer. They both preceded him in death. On December 2, 1989, he married Mary Jane Dunlap. She survives near Columbus Grove, Ohio. Barry is survived by two sons: James Seyer of Alger and Gregory (Jeffrey Mills) Seyer of Galion; two grandsons: Dalan and Darren Seyer; one sister: Susan (Rick) Frymyer of Florida, and one sister in-law: Penny Seyer of Sidney. He was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Seyer. Barry graduated from Perry High School, class of 1964. He had been a hard working man. He was a retiree of Nash Finch Foods, formerly Scot Lad Foods. He was a member of the Cairo United Methodist Church, where he headed up the Church Food Pantry. Barry had also been a volunteer at Lima Memorial Hospital, since 2009. He was a member of the Lima Fraternal Order of Eagles, Arie #370, a member of the Cleveland Browns Backers of Lima, a fan of the Cleveland Browns and a huge fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. Barry was the world champion Horse Shoe Thrower in 1991, in the Men's Class 02. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing golf. Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2016, at the Cairo United Methodist Church. Pastor Ruth Ann Scoby will officiate. Burial will be at Cairo Eastside Cemetery, at a later date. Friends may call from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 on Friday, July 22, 2016, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. At the close of visitation on Friday, the FOE Memorial Service will be held. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cairo United Methodist Church Food Pantry, the Beaverdam - Richland Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department or to the family. Online condolences may be expressed at hartmansonsfuneralhome.com Please note that if you will be attending the funeral services on Saturday at the Church, you need to take the alley just north of Main Street on SR 65, due to Main Street in Cairo being completely closed to traffic.
