Arline Witteborg Obituary
Columbus Grove Arline M. Witteborg, 91, died at 3:30 a.m. May 28, 2011, at The Meadows of Kalida. She was born March 28, 1920, in Woodland, Maine, to Fredrick and Jenny Simmons Harriman. On April 1, 1944, she married William N. "Bill" Witteborg Sr., who died March 5, 2004. Mrs. Witteborg was co-owner and secretary of Witt-Gor Inc., which manufactured floor covering displays. She retired in 2008. She was a charter member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9648 Auxilliary and American Legion Post 516 Auxiliary, both in Columbus Grove. She was a very active member of First Presbyterian Church. She graduated from Woodland high School in Maine, then went to work in Washington, D.C., where she met the love of her life, her Bill. They were married for 60 years at the time of his death. She enjoyed dancing. fishing, playing cards and attending the grandchildren's sporting events. Her greatest love was family. She was an avid fan of anything they did. They will miss her dearly, but she is in a better place with the love of her life. Survivors include a son, William N. (Linda) Witteborg, of Columbus Grove; a daughter, Kristen (Dennis) Palte, of Columbus Grove; five grandchildren, Jon (Tina) Witteborg, Micki (Doug) Bellman, Scott (Amber) Palte, Stephani (Eric) Fortman and Steve Palte, all of Columbus Grove; three stepgrandchildren, W.D. (Tina) Miller, Samanatha (Lee) Brown and Natalie Miller; 10 great-grandchildren, Sydney, Lauren, Lia, Arline, Paige. Jordan, Brayden, Everett, Kendal, Brynn and Elyse Mae; and two stepgreat-grandchildren, Carson and Kamryn. She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Harriman; and five sisters, Vera Harriman, Alberta Leighton, Doris Flood, Virginia DiBona and Marilyn Sears. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home. Pastor Harry Tolhurst will officiate. Burial will be in Truro Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Columbus Grove First Presbyterian Church.
