COLUMBUS GROVE - Ardath Huffman Craft, 99, died at 1:50 p.m. Aug. 13, 2012, at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. She was born July 14, 1913, in Lima to Harmon W. and Clara Krouse Beach, who preceded her in death. On June 1, 1940, she married Herbert H. Huffman, who died in 1972. In 1973, she married Arthur W. Craft, who died in 1989. Mrs. Craft was a 1931 graduate of Lima South High School and received her teaching degree from Bowling Green State University . She was a teacher in Lima City Schools until 1940, and then in Vaughnsville and Columbus Grove schools until her retirement. She had taught junior high math, kindergarten and Ohio history. She was a member of South Side Christian Church, Lima, and its Mary Martha Sunday school class. She had been a member of Evangelical United Brethren Church, Vaughnsville, where she taught Sunday school for several years and was active in the church. She was a member of Chapter 527 Order of Easter Star, Columbus Grove, where she served twice as worthy matron. She was a 30-year member of the Lima Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she served a term as regent. She enjoyed traveling and traveled extensively with her second husband through his Masonic lodge work. She loved to read and keep up on current events. Survivors include two sons, Charles H. "Cork" (Jayne) Huffman, of Pandora, and Herbert H. (Beth) Huffman, of Columbus Grove; a daughter, Diane Leota (Ernest) Gary, of New Carlisle; a sister, Doris Clevenger, of Lima; four grandchildren, Jason (Amber) Huffman and Joshua (Laura) Huffman, both of Pandora, Levi Huffman, of East Lansing, Mich., and Clayton (Lacey) Huffman, of Ambridge, Pa.; six great-grandchildren, Chase, Will, Eli, Owen, Ty and Ava; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Marvin and William Beach; and a sister, Leota Catanese. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Dave Thompson and the Rev. Wanda Werking will officiate. Burial will be in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Dayton Children's Medical Center, 1 Children's Plaza, Dayton, OH 45404.
