Columbus Grove Anne L. Stemen Buckingham, 79, died at 3:29 p.m. July 12, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System. She was born May 17, 1933, in Lima to Ralph and Alice Rish Clay, who preceded her in death. She married Clyde D. Stemen, who preceded her in death. She then married Edward Buckingham, who also preceded her in death. Mrs. Buckingham was a 1951 graduate of Spencerville High School. She graduated from Miami University, Oxford, and received her master's degree in education from Bowling Green State University. She had been a teacher at Spencerville, Cairo and Bath schools. She was a member of St. John United Methodist Church, Columbus Grove, where she had served as treasurer and sang in the choir. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Organization at Bath and Cairo schools, and Order of Eastern Star Chapter 527. She enjoyed and loved her family dog, Lucy, as well as gardening, knitting, reading, traveling and having Sunday lunch with her lady friends of the church. Survivors include a son, Russell (Cindy) Stemen, of Lima; a sister, Peggy (Ray) Becker, of Lima; a sister-in-law, Jane Wright, of Columbus Grove; and two grandsons, Matthew and Zachary Stemen. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at St. John United Methodist Church, Columbus Grove. Pastor Gary Ginter will officiate. Burial will be in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John United Methodist Church or the charity of the donor's choice.
