A good , considerate man. I was proud to be an Allen county cousin. He made me and my young wife, Jane, feel welcome and special at his band's venues. Great family.

To Al's Family,I am so sorry to hear of Al's Death and I want to express our deepest sympathy. Many years ago when I was in the 8th grade, I played my very first gig with the Al Best Orchestra. I was so excited and Al was so gracious and really helped make my first gig really fun.Since that gig, I have become a professional musician with a good 24 years of playing under my belt. I have an undergraduate degree and a masters degree in Music Education but my real love is playing professionally and for that I thank Al for giving me my very first gig.Ernie & Johanne Coleson
Dear family,So sorry to hear. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers. With deepest sympathy.
Alvie was always the most friendliest guy when you saw him...even if it was "years' between seeing him (Car-e-it, Ottawa). I remember being very young and stopping at his house with mom - if my memory is correct, he milked cows and we watched...at times he called me his "little girlfriend". Rest in peace Alvie - say Hi to mom and dad up there!
Dear Al,Now you and Gene can now have your heavenly band.Dr. Baker is a good drummer.LoveEllie Wollenhaupt
I'll always remember dancing the bunny hop to Al's band - they were the "Best"! Deepest sympathies, Joan
I am so sorry for your loss. He was a very good man. I miss talking to him. I won't be able to come for visitation due to health problems, but my heart will be there. He is definately sittting with God. We had been keeping in touch, but I had no idea he was ill. It is a big loss to a lot of people. Sandie
