Columbus Grove Alice L. Irwin, 91, died at 10:20 p.m. May 3, 2012, at Lima Memorial Health System. She was born Nov. 15, 1920, in Columbus Grove to Burt A. and Myrtle M. Bowers Core, who preceded her in death. On Jan. 12, 1941, she married Clifford B. Irwin, who died Aug. 23, 1997. Mrs. Irwin was a 1938 graduate of Gomer High School. She was a homemaker and had worked on the family farm. She attended St. John United Methodist Church, Columbus Grove. She enjoyed her visits with her sisters and brother, eating at Jim's Restaurant in Delphos and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Susan Oliver, of New Knoxville, and Cathy L. (John J.) Schroeder, of Ottawa; a brother, Clyde "Sonny" Core, of Columbus Grove; a sister, Mildred Hawk, of Lafayette; and 11 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda J. Irwin; four sisters, Myrtle Mae Core, Helen Benroth, Mary "Sue" Ridenour and Frances Downing; and a son-in-law, Steve Oliver. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Monday at Hartman Sons Funeral Home, Columbus Grove. Pastor Rich Rakay will officiate. Burial will be in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the arts and crafts department of Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora, or the Lord's Pantry, Columbus Grove.
