Alice Blockberger Obituary
Columbus Grove, Ohio Alice Louise Blockberger, 91, died Saturday, January 12, 2019, at her daughter's home. She was born May 26, 1927, in Columbus Grove, to Clarence and Myrtle (Featheringill) Barkimer. They both preceded her in death. On January 27, 1951, she married Robert L. Blockberger. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1999. Alice is survived by two daughters, Kay (Jack) Ruen of Columbus Grove and Sue (Tom) Blockberger-Miller of Cincinnati; four grandchildren, Tara Ruen, Jack "J.J." Ruen, Jr., Ali Miller and T.J. Miller; five great grandchildren, Grayson and Kennedy Flores, Gabbie Page, and Carson and Kiera Ruen. She is preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence Barkimer, Jr., Richard (Luella) Barkimer, Charles (Ruth) Barkimer and Robert (Mary Ellen)Barkimer; three sisters, Eula (John) Riggenbach, Mary (Gladwin) Smith and Lois (Charles) Van Brunt; and in-laws, Harry (Virginia) Blockberger, Elmer (Grace) Blockberger, Irvin (Cay) Blockberger, Gordon (Doris) Best and Dolores Blockberger. Alice was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School, class of 1945. She was the secretary for the former Bordon's Dairy of Columbus Grove and the Clerk-Treasurer for the Village of Columbus Grove, retiring after 30 years. She was a volunteer for several years at Columbus Grove School and St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima. Alice was a member of the former First Presbyterian Church, Columbus Grove, where she had served as both an Elder and Church Treasurer. Alice enjoyed reading, working in her flower gardens and especially loved spending time with her family. Services will begin at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at Turner Hall, formerly First Presbyterian Church, Columbus Grove. Pastor Geoff Eubank will officiate with burial to follow in Truro Cemetery, Columbus Grove. Friends may call 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at Hartman Sons Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday, January 16, 2019, at Turner Hall, formerly First Presbyterian Church, Columbus Grove.
