Hawkins family, You might recall living next door to us at the corner of Central and Marion in Bluffton. Mom (Doris Ann Wilson) worked with your mom at the Vogue dress shop. Your dad taught me in 6th grade at East Side. To say he was a fabulous teacher is an understatement. He even taught us to play Chess. Many reminders almost daily of things he taught me. Tough but fair! May God comfort you in the days ahead. (I received comments from classmates on how much respect we all had for him. Will try to fwd to you soon. WHAT A GREAT & GODLY MAN. A DEAR FRIEND TO ME FOR MANY YEARS ALONG WITH HIS WIFE JEAN. A SPIRITUAL GIANT & PRAYER WARRIOR. HE WAS AN ENCOURAGEMENT & MENTOR. MY WIFE SAYS, "YOU COULDN'T OUT GIVE THE HAWKINS". AS NEIGHBORS WE WOULD TAKE OVER SOMETHING TO SHARE & THEY ALWAYS RETURNED THE FAVOR & THEN SOME.
